Birthday Pup-cake recipe.

Every pup deserves a special birthday cake and so when Harvey turned 11 this year we knew he needed something tasty to celebrate!

We made a dog friendly carrot cake with a soft cheese frosting and it’s safe to say that they went down a hit! So we thought we’d share the recipe with you so you can get your pups in the party spirit or just give them a super special treat.

We started by preheating our oven to 180/Gas Mark 4.

While the oven is warming up, grab your egg, peanut butter, vegetable oil and vanilla extract and mix together in a bowl. Then it’s time to stir in your grated carrots. Slowly fold in the flour and bicarbonate of soda until combined. Once you’ve got a nice thick mixture it’s time to spoon into cupcake cases. (this could also make a great sponge if you want one large cake instead!)

Bake for 20 minutes (a whole cake may require longer) then allow to cool.

While your tasty sponge cools you can make a start on your icing, the possibilities are endless, you could choose a simple spread of peanut butter or maybe some liver paste. We chose to blend 1 banana and 4 teaspoons of soft cheese together to make a perfect fluffy white frosting ready to decorate. Decorating is the best part, you can get as creative as you like or keep them super simple!

The most important thing is to have fun and create some tasty treats for the special birthday pup in your life!
